1. Apprentices are team members in a structured training and development phase. This role is designed to support skill-building, systems knowledge, and integration into JGD Salon’s culture and service standards. NYS Cosmetology or Esthetics license required. $16/hr Key characteristics of the Apprentice role: -Works under the guidance and supervision of senior artists and leadership -May assist with services, guest experience, and operational support -Completes required training modules, shadowing, and skill assessments -Has a limited service menu until skill benchmarks are met -Compensation is hourly as outlined in the Apprentice compensation plan -Advancement from Apprentice status is based on demonstrated competency, professionalism, and readiness—not tenure alone.
2. Artist (Stylist / Esthetician) Artists are licensed professionals authorized to perform services independently within their scope of practice. Must complete JGD’s 6 month Apprentice program Key characteristics of the Artist role: - Provides services to guests independently - Is responsible for guest experience, rebooking, retail education, and professional conduct - Adheres to all salon policies, procedures, and service standards - Participates in required meetings, education, and training - May be compensated via commission, hourly pay, or a hybrid structure as outlined in their offer letter - $30,000-$60,000 annually
3. Managing Artist Certain Lead Artists may be designated as Managing Artists and granted limited management authority. Requirements: 3+ yrs experience as a Stylist at JGD. Managing authority may include: -Supporting daily operations and floor leadership - Coaching team members on standards, guest experience, and performance - Addressing minor issues or concerns in real time - Communicating leadership expectations and salon policies $55,000-$80,000
